Death From Above 1979 - “Blood On Our Hands” from You’re A Woman, I’m A Machine
Perhaps the biggest surprise from the recently announced lineup for Coachella 2011 was the news that DFA was reuniting. The band is made up of just a bass and drummer, but these dudes do more with this limited set up then some bands do with 20 members. I got into them along time ago, and forgot that they only made 1 album then broke up (cause apparently just having 2 members is still such a strain on an individual’s ego that they just started hating each other… go figure), so I never got to check out their awesome brand of heavy dance punk in person. Looks like that’s changing this year w00t w00t!
AHHHHHH COACHELLA 2011 IS GONNA BE AWESOME!!!
So I’ve been saying I was gonna go to Coachella for the last 2 years now, but I am definitely gonna go this year. Gonna stay at my grandparent’s vacation pad in Palm Springs and rage it up in Indio so wooooo. And even though I am a poor ass and probably can’t afford the $280+service charges for the 3 day pass, I shall take advantage of their awesome layway deal and pay it in installments.
Here’s Who I am stoked to see:
- The Three Headliners - Kings of Leon, Arcade Fire, and Kanye West: I was praying that all three of them would be able to headline since they all had big notable releases last year, AND THEY ALL CAME THROUGH! WOW
- Animal Collective
- Mumford & Sons
- The National
- City and Colour
- Death From Above 1979 (reunited!)
- Cee Lo Green
- Mariachi El Bronx
- The Tallest Man on Earth
- Flogging Molly
- Jimmy Eat World
And who I kinda wanna see:
- Lightning Bolt
- Lauryn Hill
- Broken Social Scene
- The Black Keys
- The Strokes
- One Day As A Lion
- Nas and Damian Marley
- Brandon Flowers
- Omar Rodriguez - Lopez
- Duran Duran
- Titus Andronicus
- The Aquabats
+ Whoever i get into over the next few months
Otherwise, the only thing I am kinda disappointed about is that there aren’t any metal bands (or anyone that heavy) on the bill at all. Last year they had Dillinger Escape Plan and Baroness, the year before that they had Mastodon and Genghis Tron. I thought they were gonna keep that diversity up this year, but i guess not. Eh, maybe they will surprise me and throw Converge or Agalloch on the bill too.
Oh and I still hear rumors that At the Drive In is supposed to reunite and that Glassjaw and the gang from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia are gonna be there too. Hope that happens.
WOOOOOOOOOOO this is gonna be awesome!
